Al-Manarah Announces the Launch of its Assistance Line:
10/10/2009 01:46:34
With the beginning of the new academic year (2008-09), Al-Manarah Association for the Advancement of the Blind in Arab Society initiated a number of activities in line with the goals of the Association of promoting, supporting and advancing the status and the role of the blind and visually impaired persons in our society. (ÇáãÒíÏ)

Those activities include seminar and discussion groups, workshops, and scholarly lectures, in addition to the publication of the first edition of Al-Manarah magazine.  All these important projects have been topped by the establishment of Al-Manarah’s new national Center in Nazareth, which will be at the heart of establishing, and activating Al-Manarah’s different programs.

And some more good news for blind and visually impaired persons in the region: with the beginning of the New Year 2009, we are glad at Al-Manarah Association to announce the initiation of the first national telephone line for the purpose of giving consultation, support and assistance to the blind and visually impaired people in our society. This line will provide the blind and visually impaired with primary psychological and social support. The operation of the assistance line will be directed by a group of psychological and social specialists, among them blind university graduates, activists and specialists from various fields such as law and ophthalmology.

The telephone assistance line project is considered to be an interactive service in that we will make contact with blind and visually impaired people for the purpose of ensuring that they receive information relevant to their specific needs, and to effectively give advice and make consultations in the Arabic language. A further benefit of the assistance line is that there is no need for clients to be concerned about mobility when accessing the service; hugely important in this case, since mobility constitutes one of the significant hardships facing blind and visually impaired people.

We are glad to talk about any issues or problems you may be experiencing at the following number: 04-6551020. The lines will be open on: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 3pm to 6pm.
